TWO DAYS IN SIX MONTHS

PHOTO BOOK

Toward the end of 2015, my sister-in-law was getting ready to have her second child. I thought it would be fun to document her family of three and then six months later document her family of four. I was really curious to capture how much the routines and sense of everyday life changes in just a matter of a few months.
Here are a few photos taken during my December 2015 visit.

And here’s how their life changed six months later.

I’m sure you can guess what happens next – a photo book!

Since the photos were limited to only two days, separated by 6 months, I wanted the design to emphasize these two distinct moments. I share the billboard that became my design inspiration in a video available to my Photo Book Club Members.

Overall, I wanted something bold and eye-catching with details to elevate the design. For example, the page numbers in the first section, match the gray divider color; while the second day features yellow page numbers to match that divider.

I kept the layouts tidy and uncluttered to keep the attention on the photographs.

Finally, I made sure the design was consistent on the cover, table of contents and section dividers.

Or if you want to work on your own Two Days in Six Months photo book – this is a special book project we’re tackling together in the Photo Book Club. It’s always a great time to jump in and document your family and design a photo book with intention!
